STEM: Teach a Tech Class to Older Adults (ONLINE or In-person)

STEM: Teach a Tech Class to Older Adults (ONLINE or In-person)

Armed with a ready-made curriculum, you and other talented volunteers will teach elderly citizens basic smartphone and computer features so they can better connect with friends and family. This 90-minute class takes place both online and in-person as indicated in the activity details. The in-person classes are also in the Greater Seattle Area, typically on the Eastside.

This program has taught over 1500 seniors and counting. We typically have 30-50 seniors attend each tech class.

What this entails: Students who are tech class leaders will provide an introduction of the class to the volunteers, greet the seniors, kick off the meeting, assign breakout rooms, interview new volunteers during orientation sessions, increase outreach, and manage breakout rooms. Student leaders will be the project leaders of the tech class for older adults.
Eligibility: Students who wish to be project leaders must currently be high school students. They must also teach at least 7 tech classes before they are eligible. If you want to become a project leader and meet the eligibility requirements, please contact info@teenswhocare.us. You will be sent a leadership application to fill out.
